...translate that to mbps? my cable provider said I would get up to 6 mbps speed but when i checked actual speed it says i hat 6890 kbps download speed . what is that in mbps speed is that close to 6 mbps

You are getting the speed what your service provider said to you.The speed is Good. 1024Kbps =1Mbps ..So 6890kbps =6.7Mbps...You can check the speed of internet in Mbps and MBps measurements at Ip-Details.com
