I have a MATH riddle, and I need HELP!?

So this is the 1st problem:
One of your friends is going N. for vacation. Your other friend is going S. for vacation. If one car is going 45 mph and the other is going 53 mph, and their destinations are 1,029 mi. apart,how many hours until the cars pass each other?
 
Assuming that your friends are local, the cars won't pass each other.
They're both here (say, at school). They head out in opposite directions, and stop when they get to where they're going. Isn't quite possible that one is headed 90 miles north, and the other is headed 939 miles south. Regardless, the cars won't meet again until they come home from vacation.
