if i ate 1oz of peanuts before i jogged for protein with 180 calories, and burned 500 calories during the jog, or ate nothing before i jogged, which would be better for weight loss, muscle tone? would i gain more benefit from eating the peanuts or eating nothing? would i build a more quality body eating the peanuts or not?

it wouldn't matter if you ate after or before. Studies have shown eating a bit before exercise can increase your performance due to have some 'fuel' to burn. It wouldn't matter any way--calories are calories at the end of the day :)
The best kind of fuel to eat after a workout is whey protein, to be honest. This protein is the easiest for the body to convert into muscle and should be eaten 30 minutes-1 hour after the exercise occurred.
With 130 cals and 33g of protein, it's better than any other lean meat.
Jogging doesn't do much for muscle tone, though. Add in a weight circuit. It doesn't need weights but it will help firm you up (I speak from experience). For ex:
50 squats-->10 pushups (or however many you can do, I'm weak :P)-->50 lunges, abs, pushups again, 1-legged squats, jumping lunges, mountain climbers, jumping jacks, etc..
