I have a question about sex after birth!?

Okay, so I just had my baby on Monday 31st. And the doctor told me that I couldn't have sex for 6 week's. And I'm not ready to have sex I'm still healing, but my question is how long after giving birth did you wait to have sex!? I know so people don't wait for the whole 6 week's.
 
I had a c-section but was also told to wait 6 weeks. I didn't have any complications or anything but we waited about 8 weeks.
