My remote start had the same problem. It is the battery in the remote. It has the power to do it by the car, but the signal isn't strong enough to reach farther. The guy who did my said you should replace the battery in the remote every year, otherwise this will happens. Cheaper than driving 3 hours

I recently got a remote starter put on my car, and now I have to stand within three feet of my car for it to unlock my doors (any farther and the remote doesn't work). Obviously, this makes the remote start completely useless.

I don't think its the battery because it DOES work, I just have to be within three feet.

I will take it back to where they installed it, if necessary, but its three hours away, so I'm trying to avoid it, if possible.

Any ideas? Thank you!

Hi stephen i had the same problem and it turned out it was the batterie in my fob..when it looses some power the range died out but when i put a new One in it was back to normal..Hope this helps Best Regards Steve

iIt is your battery. Maybe when you had the auto-starter installed the mechanic used it to much tring to align the fequence on the remote, key to the remote on the starter.REPLACE THE BATTERY
