5-speed.any suggestions? ? i don't want to harm the transmission with improper shifting of the gears.is it better to have it in first gear while at a stoplight(one foot on the clutch and one on the brake)or to have it in neutral?i just want to be safe and effective while driving a 5-speed...like i said, i have minimal experience with a 5-speed.any pointers from starting the car to changing gears effectively would be a great help.thanks!

i had the crx hf. when going from stop to start, 1st or 2nd is fine, and shift smoothly in order (1-2, 2-3, 3-4, etc.) don't skip gears, even though you don't need the intermediate gear.

at stop, leave it in neutral.

It wont hurt the tranny if you have it in first gear at the red light, but it will kill the clutch fast. Its better to have it in neutral.

dont ride the clutch. excessively pressing the clutch when unnecessary will cause premature wear of the diaphragm spring and the clutch friction material. also try to either not press the clutch or fully depress it, never just hold it slightly pressed or half way. that will cause the spring to wear faster
