I have an Audi A4 3.0 Cabriolet?

I have an '03. Whenever I'm pulling out in reverse of a parking place it has a loud bumping noise coming from the bottom of the car. Pulling out in reverse today it went BUMP BUMP BUMP and everytime it bumped the car would stop moving... it doesn't do it everytime i go in reverse but most times but it's getting worse. What could be the problem?

only on reverse sounds like atransmision problem. does the bump bump sounds like metal to metal clunking or more like plastic. is your car manual or automatic, metal to metal it could be something loose in the manual transmision like an idler gear stop driving it and check obious things specially fluid levels inn the differential and transmision loose stuff in the tires, brakes. is an audi and is a pain in the ass taking them apart so it sounds expensive repair, is it an all wheel drive?
