I have this phone and it works great
only thing is every once and awhile my phone will show no service no matter where I am. If I turn my phone off and back on I will get service.
any one know why it is doing this and how I could fix it?
My first CU515 did that too, both rural and in city. I figured it was losing the ability to talk to the tower and needed a reboot (which was the only way it would regain a signal after a while- sometimes it would 'remember' on its own, but I had a LOT of missed calls and messages.) After about a year of being powered off and on repeatedly just to get a connection, it just stopped recognizing the sim card (card checked out fine on another phone). I could get it to recognize it on occasion- something to do with how I was holding it when I powered on- so I just finally quit powering it off (airline mode would do the same thing.) I finally returned it on an insurance claim in December.
AT&T would NOT honor the warranty even though it was not a damage issue. Within the first month I had that phone, AT&T replaced my charger cord because it had a bad connection (another issue with the phone). This was documented on my account when I exchanged the cord in an AT&T store (not a 'licensed dealer', but AT&T themselves.) When I called regarding the above issues they then claimed that using a non OEM charger cord - even though THEY supplied it - voided the warranty. So be VERY wary and guarded with what info you supply when and if you call to discuss warranty exchanges!
My second one within two months of getting it, the phone lost all ability to connect with the service, both voice and data. It would show full bars, even 3G network service, but would not connect. It is going back today. I have the replacement in hand. Came on here to see what the factory reset (test mode) code is so I can wipe my personal data off the dud phone before I can ship it back.
I think it's just a bad model phone. My other LG has survived a year of heavy text and media use and another year of heavy 10 year old kid abuse. It has no issues at all (cu400). My brother's cu500 has served him quite well for three years.
I can't tell you what's causing the issue, only that it is apparently pretty common with the cu515. If you have the option to swap for a different phone, take it. Otherwise bear with it till you can get a new one or upgrade. They don't get any better, but they do get worse.
