I have bought an mp3/mp4 from china off of ebay. How can I play my videos on it?

For videos it only supports AVI files.It came with a sample video that was AVI, I have used many programs to convert my files into AVI and they have converted. Looking at the propertes of the song given and my converted file everything is the same, but when I try to play it on my MP3/MP4 it says warning: file format error. Id like to know how I can convert my videos so they actually will play.

Tip: Don't buy things from random companies in China. Trust me. My bro did the same thing w/ Mp3 player like you, and they are terrible. Buy from well known sources and everything will work better.
