1) How long should one "cycle" a new tank before putting fish in?2) Can one have a small pleco & a apple snail in 20 gallon tank with them getting enough food, adding a algae pellet a day?3) Our molly had babies & we isolated them in one of those box nets at top of tank. How long time wise or length of fish wise should we wait before we release them back in tank?

the tank should cycle for a week and yes it is fine for the pleco and apple snail .. as for the breeding trap you should put them in a completly different tank to the adults ... the adults will eat the fry ... the fry will only survive in the adult tank when they are about an inch long and they are plump

1. no really a set time on when a tank is cycled.you have to test the water parameters to see when it's ready. 2. apple snails? are those still legal? i thought my LFS said they weren't selling them anymore. unless i'm thinking of a different snail. you can keep them together but i'd rather add them to an establish tank so there are more algae and whatnot for them to eat then to be dependant on a pellet. 3. i'd like to say that if a fish fits into another fish's mouth..it's going to get eaten. i'd wait for them to get bigger so they can avoid that fate.

1st go out and by 2-3 cheap fish and throw them in the tank then after a week then add moreYes plenty of algae for the 2wait till their bigger then the mouth of other fish

1. A fishless cycle (recommended) will take between 3 and 8 weeks. Add a source of ammonia such as fish food or household ammonia to the tank and monitor levels on a daily basis until ammonia and nitrite are 0.2. The term "pleco" describes a HUGE variety of catfish - many of which grow quite large, so it depends on the specific plec you're after.3. They need to be too big to fit into the largest fish's mouth. What other fish do you have? Note: If you have an established filter, you can take some of the media (sponge, bio-balls, ceramic plates, etc) out of the filter and put it in the new filter. That'll act as seed bacteria and speed the cycling process up.

1. A cycle usually takes about at most a month. Here is a link to help you out with that. http://www.aquatic-hobbyist.com/profiles/misc/fishlesscycling.html2.The apple snail is good, but a common plec, isn't. A common plecostomus gets WAY too big, I would recommend a clown (too expensive and hard to find, in my opinion), a bristlenose (too ugly, in my opinion), or a bulldog/rubberlip (perfect and awesome, in my opinion).3. Mollies will eat anything that will fit in their mouths, except maybe gravel. I would wait until they are at least an inch, but maybe even more if they could still possibly fit in the other's mouths.Good luck.

1) no more than a week2)yes3) until they are bigger than the other fishs mouths
