I have the hard drive from my directv DVR is there any way to copy the info...

...to my computer? It is in a USB case so it is conected to my computer and all the files seem to be no good. Anyone know of any program where I can get the videos off of it?
 
the files are proprietary and owned by directv, windows will not recognize them
