So, about 7 weeks ago I was snowmobiling and did a jump. I landed a little hard and ever since then I have a lot of pain in my right hand at the wrist below my pinky finger. I've had an x-ray and they said it isn't broken which is good. However, I can not really use my hand...it hurts to grip anything or hold anything heavy and just about any other daily task that involves using your hand. I was told that at first that it was a torn tendon and that it should heal in 6-8 weeks. Well it's been 7 weeks with no improvement. I was then told at my check-up today that it is a sprain and it will take 3 months or more to heal and to leave it be and it will heal on it's own. I have two kids one 3 1/2 and one 18 months that I have to still care for and it's painful to do simple daily tasks like changing a diaper and fixing a meal! I am extremely frustrated with this answer. Even if it is sprained wouldn't a splint help? I mean, if you sprain an ankle you get it splinted right? I mean it doesn't take the pain away, but it takes away the movement that makes the injury more painful. Should I go to another Dr. and get another opinion? Or, is this the right answer and I just need to deal and get through the pain?
