I inherited a car (08 Mercedes-Benz E something) when filling gas, it said "Diesel"

car is smoking now? At the pump I chose diesel because I heard it is more economical instead of gasoline, but for some reason the nozzle was too wide so thankfully I had a funnel so I pumped through there.

Driving off I noticed knocking noise, engine was vibrating, and after 10min on the road it started to smoke badly!

I had the same problem with my h3 I got for my birthday. Luckily it was only half empty when I filled it and I just kept driving it. Smoked really bad for the longest time and it still has a loss of power 3 months later. Oh well. Damn foreign cars, shoulda bought american like a chevy. Good luck to you!

Don't worry about it, just take another toke and eat a big bowl of stupid for breakfast, you'll be fine. Assuming that your actually stupid enough to put Diesel fuel in a Gasoline engine, it seriously won't hurt it but take it to a shop and have the tank drained and the system purged before refilling it with G A S O L I N E { I said it LOUD & SLOWLY so you would understand} before you decide to drive it anymore. B.T.W. the "R" on the shift indicator between Park and Drive stands for "Race", DO NOT ever put it into R till your going at least 80 mph !

Maybe you can inherit a clue next time, or buy some common sense

I do hope that you are joking.

The reason that the fuel funnel doesn't fit is because you are not suppose to add diesel to a gas engine. You will have to have the car taken to a shop to clear up the problem.

I have had Mercedes diesels and the nozzle fits...

This question has to be a joke...
Why would you funnel diesel into your gas tank? theres a reason the nozzle didn't fit.
Take it in (if this really did happen) plan on an expensive repair bill for replacing draining the diesel and repairing what it broke.

Sadly though, you cant fix stupid.

Just do as "quik66gt" says & you will be OK. Be sure to buckle in tightly when you drive.
Thombs up Quik.
