not smell bad help? i need he;p
i just got a syrian hamster his name is gizmo how do i have fun and have hem

First off, leave him alone for 3 days. I know it's hard, but it's the best for him. Imagine being placed into a whole new place and having giant hands grabbing for you.
If you want to start now in taming them, put a tissue in your bra or sock for a few hours then put it into the hamsters cage. They will use the tissue for bedding and will get used to your scent.
In 3 or so days, put a treat in your hand and lower your hand into their cage. Let them come to you, and take the treat. They may not take it right away, don't get discouraged. If they do take it, just take your hand out, don't attempt to pet them or hold them. Do this for a week or so. If they are comfortable with taking the treat, then when they come onto your hand, slowly lift it up. Let them run around your hand for a few seconds and put them back. (When I say "them" I mean just one at a time
) After doing this for a few days, try holding them for longer and longer periods of time. Remember not too hold them too long because they don't particularly like it. I'd say a minute at a time at the most. A good taming exercise is putting them in a dry bathtub with you and letting them run around. Put a few hideouts and wheels into the bathtub as well to give them hiding places.

If it's the hamster and not the cage that smells, you can buy some chinchilla sand (not dust which causes respiratory problems) and put it into a container and let the hamster go into it. If the hamsters bottom is dirty with feces, take a very slightly damp cloth and wipe it away. Either go to the vet and let her prescribe a medicine, or go to petsmart and buy Wet tail medicine.

Hamsters don't smell, only their cage smells if not cleaned often. I clean my hamsters every other day. I have a shedder and I shed bills and newspaper and thats want I use for her bed. She loves it and it doesn't cost me a penny and her cage is always so clean. I have a wire cage that the bottom comes out, she runs aroud in her little ball and I just dump it and refill the cage with newspaper. As soon as she's back in her cage she just jumps in and she's so happy. The tray that holds the paper is dumped so often that it never has a chance to stink. I hope I helped and have a good day.

Good for you! i got a male syrian hamster yesterday. I suggest to leave him alone for a day or so. After a day, put him in a ball and let him explore. Lock up any dogs or cats or any animal that freely roams around your house. (That doesn't include your sister.)
