I just restored my ipad and my apps are gone?

I just upgraded the iOS system and then my ipad told me I had to restore it, so I did.
But all my apps are gone now.
I dont use iCloud and when I sync it to my itunes, the apps dont appear so do I have to download everything manually?
Or is there some way I can get them back?
If I get them back, all my data is gone, right?
