I keep getting a no circuit/channel available on my unlock blackberry storm 9530?

I got my Blackberry Storm from Verizon n I got it unlock, I inserted a T-mobile sim card from my brother's phone just to test it out and I switch the connection to GSM, the text works fine but I can't make or receive calls and that no circuit/channel available keeps popping out, someone told me my bro's T-mobile sim card might be an old sim card. I'm planning to get a H2O Wireless Starter Kit but I don't want to spend $60 on it if it'll do the same thing. any idea if putting a new sim card might fix the problem?

Answer to error no circuit or channel available on Blackberry Storm

Hi, sorry but the only solution is down upgrade the soft to the old version, so if you have 5.0 you need 4.7. I don't know why i am trying to find the solution to use the last update.
