I've recently acquired a new laptop (an Acer Aspire 8935G) with in-built DOLBY Home Theater. When I enter Realtek HD Audio Manager, it gives a list of "Optional Speakers", where you can select through which speakers sound comes. The "Rear pair" are featured in this list, but are not available for deselection etc. I'm new to the surround sound features on a laptop (having also never had them for a TV), but when I conduct the speaker configuration, all six speakers represented play. This isn't really a major issue, I was just wondering whether the rear speakers are either not working, or are always on/compulsory (for stereo and basic sound levels) so therefore cannot be turned off, and also if anyone has any tips for optimum sound quality (I've adjusted the distance and gain of each speaker to what I deem perfection, but any tips would be welcome).
