I suck at fashion....?

We take fashion in our school and we start drawing dresses from the beginning of the year and by the end of the year, we create a final dress for our fashion show. Then we either chose to model our own dress or ask someone else to do it. The problem is, I suck at fashion! I don't think my taste sucks but, I just have no idea what to draw when the teacher asks us to. I don't want to create an awful dress for the fashion show so, does anyone know how I can get better at this??
