you could be doing it wrong. If you are you could be permanantly damaging your vocal chords, the way sound is produced from your vocal chords is by vibration, two things hitting together producing vibration, when you scream you are causing them to hit together even quickly/more which can cause soreness and scarring.

Screaming in general is honestly a bad idea vocally.... But i'm a classical singer so that could have something to do with my views...\

Some tips I can think of that apply to all vocalists
-take breaks, I know if i am not vocally at my best i've been told not to sing for more than 30 minutes and not to sing longer than 45 without a break if i'm well.
-definitely drink lots of water
- Don't drink milk beforehand or a lot of caffine

The main thing to remember when screaming is to stay hydrated. Have some water with you to drink in between small sessions.
Also, make sure you don't force anything, make sure you're always comfortable with how it feels.
Finally, give yourself a good rest. Even though the part of the throat you're using is made to sound like that without pain it can still get tired. It's sort of like, if you go for a long run you might still be slightly tired, or your feet may still ache a bit the next day. It's that effect, even though nothing's actually wrong, they just need a bit of a rest and some care.
:D Don't worry though, it happens to me occassionally, just make sure you take care of your voice :D
