My cat had surgery to remove a bladder stone and while in surgery the vet accidentally severed her urethra. She has been in the emergency care of the vet for the past five days, but we just got her home today. While we were out, she managed to remove the cone that was on her head that was keeping her from pulling out her catheter. While its still in there, I can't tell if she pulled it out a little or all the way. There is a band-aid that is part way down the tube and I can't remember if that was that far out or not.
My question for any vets out there is how far down do they usually stick the band-aid when there is a catheter in? Its out about 3/4" right now. I will take her in to the vet tomorrow morning, but I need to know that she didnt pull the whole thing out. (It wouldn't just fall out as there are stitches that have been sewn in.)
Also, her urethra needs to heal AROUND the catheter to prevent it from closing. How long does it take a urethra to heal?
