I wake up too soon and feel so exhausted because of it, what can I do?

Being a teen I need about 9 hours of sleep to feel normal and energized. It seems that every morning, though, my body wakes me up onthe 7th hour, right after I've finished dreaming (REM sleep). I wake up groggy, tired, and unhappy but no matter how hard I try, I cannot fall back asleep to get that "light" sleep after dreaming that always leaves me feeling well rested. Is there maybe something in my diet that is causing this? I haven't been eating as much as usual lately. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
