I want to burn a DVD for my boyfriend from England?

I'm in the U.S. and I want to burn a DVD for my boyfriend who lives in England. I'm aware that there are often problems between DVD formatting. I made a video in iMovie '11 and I simply wish to burn the video to a DVD that will be compatible for his computer, too. Does anyone know if I have to buy a certain DVD or if I just have to burn the DVD to a certain format?

Thanks for that answer. How does one go about doing that on a MacBook Pro? I do not have iDVD, and do not know if that will be important. I only have iMovie.
 
You just need to encode it in PAL format. The type of DVD blank does not matter.
