Australia.what do I buy? I am travelling to the united states later in the year and I plan on buying a new mobile/cell . I do not know what type of phone to buy, wether it is outright and unlocked or prepaid .I don't want to use the tmobile network, I want to use my Australian telstra sim card.

Doesn't matter, if you're buying it T-Mobile you should be OK since the chips are often interchangeable with different networks. Any of the phones sold by T-Mobile should be fine. You might want to make sure it's quad-band if you travel a lot but want to keep your contract (for short trips).
