Find you a copy of "Genki - An integrated course in Elementary Japanese" published by The Japan Times. It's the best introduction to the language that I've found. You may be able to find one at your local library. If not, take a look at TheJapanShop.net or Amazon.com or JList.com

i really like "a dictionary of basic japanese grammar". it's more a suppliment to a learning program, but once you have even the basic understanding of the grammar, this book will help you understand and apply it easily.IBSN #: 4-7890-0454-6
