i want to travel to South East Asia, but dont know where to start!?

I wantto go to South East Asia, but i dont really know where or how or how much money i need.... I dont want to do a massive touristy tour, rather just go somewhere beautiful where i can meet people and just not do much really. I hear Cambodia is good, but where do i go? Id also be travelling alone, so would want to stay somewhere where Im bound to make friends.
I also dont know how much money i need. So far I have £1300 saved up... Id be aiming at going in January and staying for 3-4 months.
If anyone can give me any ideasor any good websites to look at that would be amazing!

Come to Singapore first!! It's awesome, really! :) hmmm but I am not sure if £1300 is enough. The exchange rate between pounds to sing dollars is about 2? But Singapore is filled with nice people. I'm sure you'll make friends somewhere! There's lots of Europeans/Australians/Americans here too, and some are backpack travellers, meaning that they kinda change motels/hotels/inns regularly. There are tons of cheap hotels here, but I'd advise against hotel 81 because that's where people go for one night stands and prostitutes so if you're a lady, don't go to geylang alone because you MIGHT be harassed. Not Raped or anything but I'm not sure. Since you're going alone, Singapore is pretty safe. The crime rate here is low and people can go home at like 3am after clubbing, walking on the streets alone and not have anything dismal happening to them. Plus, we speak English. :) hehe have fun! I'm not too sure about Cambodia, especially if you're a lady and going alone... Maybe you can save that for trips with your friends or family :)

Hi Elizabeth,

Have you thought about going on a gap year holiday, it is a little pricey, howerever there will be people in a similar situation. Check them out their pretty cool, i went out to Africa for 2 months to work with venomous reptiles.

Come to india,cheap,beutiful and many historical place,come first to delhi and near agra to see tajmahal and rajasthan kerala etc.see in google
