Spray the top of the coil, the top of the distributor, and the inside of the distributor cap with WD40. It should then start.

I washed the engine compartment with the motor running. Drove it a few miles then shut it off. Now it won't start, it makes a clicking sound. I charged my battery, and my alternator is good. what should i try?

You flooded your engine.

Good job.

Why did you think it was a good idea to wash your engine compartment?

More than likely, you got water in the electrical, or somehow into your valves. Or sucked into the intake manifold....or pistons....etc....

The fact that it was running, is even funnier. All you did was help it suck water into the engine.

Costs about $1000 to fix, depending on level of damage. Take it to a mechanic, and have them go through it.

What kind of vehicle? The "clicking sound" can be a dead battery, a normal cycling of relays or anything in between. Visually check all of the wiring and connections related to the cranking circuit - if you find nothing, try jump starting it.
