I'd like to pursue a career in fashion, but not the design aspect. what do i do?

I was thinking a major in business and a minor in human relations/marketing. I am curious however, as to what both majors focus on and entail. I'd like to be a buyer but if that falls through what kind of jobs can i expect with a business, marketing, or human relations degree

Yikes, i'm not to fond of business degrees. This is just my opinion but they are kind of broad and to not really required. Many top designers don't even have those degrees. A few courses is sufficient to me. However with a business degree you can use that with just about any job you apply for, at the same time so do thousands of other business degree folks as well. Maybe try management and do some accounting along with that in the degree.

Marketing is pretty much dead from what I've heard o n the news. Marketing majors have a hard time getting a job. There have even been one guy who had to stand on the sidewalk advertise himself out of desperation - and he was a laid off professional with lots of experience.
First, you should consider everything with relationship to the current crises and what it had done to entire industries that have either collapsed or being outsourced. With so many Americans unemployed, you don't want to waste four years in school just to realize you can't find a job. I suggest you do a media research and see what is in demand and what will be in four years. Fashion itself is a shaky subject - and who you know and whether you can go through the competition. You don't want to be just another starving artist in for years.
