If a kitten has lived both indoors and outdoors, is it possible for it

to live only indoors? Kitten is 12 weeks old and has been both indoors and outdoors, quite a lot outdoors, is it possible for the kitten to adopt to living indoors? Is it difficult living with a kitten used to being outdoors?

Its possible but down to the cat really, which is not so helpful i guess. I have one cat who was born outdoors and lived outside until he came to us at 12 weeks, he won't stay inside other than to sleep. We were meant to keep him in after a (minor) operation but he managed to push a hole in the door, such is his refusal. My other cat refuses to go outside although she did so before coming to us. I guess if they get used to it early enough it could work but theres no guarantee you wont find it pining at the window, which would probably make you feel really mean

The kitten will be fine and will quickly get use to being indoors, the only thing you will have to do is teach it how to use a litter box which is easy. Cats naturally bury their "business." You have nothing to worry about and if it starts to scratch you furniture just pop it on the butt lightly and get a scratching post and never have a cat declawed. Hope that helps :)

It shouldn't be too hard. Just let it outside less and less untill it is an inside cat. Also, don't forget to get it special indoor cat food because you don't want your kitty to get too fat! :) Good luck.

Yes but just a warning the cat WILL try to get out after like maybe a month the kitten should be used to it and not care anymore

i think so? the only thing i can think of if you do want it to stay indoors is to teach it to go on a lead so it gets time outside under you control they do need fresh air make sure it has lots of toys to keep it amused you could also look on the internet for ideas hope this helps

When a kitten is that young it is easy to 'train' them and get them used to certain things. Your kitten will not necessarily be 'used' to going outside just yet, so there's nothing wrong at all with restricting it to life as an indoor cat. I leash trained my cat so that he can be a housecat but still make garden visits.
