if a MC ask you to remove colors when your at their club house can they do that?

This what happened my friend told me that they at a motorcycle club, club house and they was asking the people not were they colors in side. Ok if you did take your vest off for them would you be showing them respect by doing that or can they even ask you to do some like that

(1 can you tell me why did it matter if they had it on or off
(2 if that was respect tell me how
(3 can you be in a MC and RC at he same time
