if a religious person knew as much about science as a atheist knows about...

...religion what would it be of them? it seems to me that atheists have more knowledge about religions, gods, dogmas, than the religious people themselves.
what if religious people knew as much science as we know about your book?

Huh? The typical atheist knows very little about religion. He/she usually doesn't care.

By contrast, many scientists are religious people.

Many theists , including myself, find science fascinating. I am no scientist, but have read both the Bible, and Darwin's "On the origin of species" in their entirety.

Your "question", is not only based in fallacy, it is dangerously stereotypical....back to the books, honey.

Don't sweat the small stuff, religion can't save you any more than science can.

Jesus is the only real answer.

Then there would be fewer theists.
@Amelia
Of course not. We have the sense to not actually believe the nonsese in the bible.

What do you know about our book?

Scientific believers do exist in surprising numbers - Science is neither the answer or an attempt to be the answer. You are confused.

Of course you do, If you know God doesn't approve of your actions where you purposefully commit against his will, why would you want to believe in him. This is all the more reason why I know there is a real God...You don't even see him and most atheists believe that they have to ignore his warnings..This , you think, clears you all from committing the sins of mankind...It doesn't admonish you're having to go before your master and confronting him.
Of course atheists know more about what they have to ignore. I would learn more about atheism if I thought I needed to defend my beliefs, but I don't.

I would love to see that happen because it would mean they actually spent some time doing some research and gave some things some actual thought.

Unfortunately for all of us the very vast majority of theists or religious people have no knowledge of science and do not seem to want to know.

It is a shame, I for one would love to see theists or religious people learn some more about science.

Education is a good thing.

Scientific progress is a product of the religious establishment. Christians and even other old word religions are far more intelligent and informed than the atheists who claim they are part of some anti-religious scientific community which doesn't exist.

You look like a boner.

Until everything is discovered in science, then you can explain. 1000000 years ago, noone believed that earth is spherical...but now they do...so have patience...we are too slow...wait for some more years......and earth revolved faster than it is revolving today......many more facts to be found out...and they will explain the Religion...then atheists will say 'WOW,UNBELIEVABLE!!!'

Really people? the ignorance and hypocrisy of so many theists is unbelievable. So if atheists studies the bible, then that is proof that there is a g-d because we desperately need to to validate our beliefs? What sense does that make? We have no creator beliefs so why would we feel the need to validate it? Unfortunately, religion of some form is the norm in America...for now! I think the poster should have perhaps re-worded his question.
Perhaps if more layman christian's studied science, their eyes would be opened just like Adam and Eve's were when they ate of the tree of knowledge.

I've heard on this board that what self destructive atheist would get a degree in theology? But that can be the same as a creationist studying genetics.

Remember we study to shut you guys the hell up when you come with your nonsense At the same time we also study science along with theology. But hey, what do we know right. The world is only 6000 years old right?
