If A Rod is out for the season, should the Yankees pick up Freddie Sanchez?

He, as a Pirate, the league's number 1 Minor league franchize, is available, I'm sure. He could play the infield while A Rod is out, and can fit anywhere else throughout the year. He's versitile. A young, one time all star player, decent, but not great. The Yankees could trade a prospect to the Pirates and know that in a couple years if that player pans out, they can get them back. (Because the Pirates will never be in contention)

Sanchez will get on base. He's also a quality defensive player at almost any position. (In his all star appearance, if I recall correctly, he played 3rd, then 2nd, then center field)
