...agree with evolution theory..? .....in terms of the general biological mechanisms/principles of the theory?

(I'm wondering because I get the impression that for many Old Earth Creationist Christians in the U.S. believe that Adam was specially created by God -- perhaps even incorporating genetic material from other mammals, just as Eve was somehow created from Adam according to Genesis -- but that the rest of the biological world came to be in its present form through the mechanisms of evolution. Is this a common view among more educated creationist Christians?)
