If I bought my iPad on Mexico and I'm traveling to the USA how can I use 3G?

If I bought an iPad 3G on Mexico and I'm going to travel to the USA for a couple of days, how can I get 3G access during my trip? I saw http://www.apple.com/ipad/3g/ but I think that only happens when you're using the default SIM card the iPad had when bought on USA. Any idea? Do I need to go to an AT&T shop?
