if i have an Identity card can i travel without a passport?

How do i get an i'd card and is it true that i can travel to a european country on it if i dont have a passport??

I'm going on holiday to amsterdam in april, i dont have time to get a citizenship ceremony so i can then apply for a passport. I hav my drivers licence and birth cerrtificate...wat can i do..i'm goin on holiday in april!!
 
im not quite sure but i think u can but only within the european countries. i would go to a travel agent and just ask em.
 
I am sorry but you have no chance. To even fly within the UK from London to Glasgow for example the airline will not let you board without a passport.
Do you have your passport from your country of origin or can you obtain it?
If not I'm sorry but you aren't going.
