If I install a hd/dvr directv dish will I get hd channels?

This is my question...I have basic DirecTV and a the satellite dish with only 1 sensor.

My question is, if I replace my normal one dish for an new oval dish with 3 sensors...will I get HD or DVR channels without upgrading my package thru DirecTV?
 
No. DirecTV requires reception from 5 satellites for HD, and you need their multiple-LNB dish, their HD receiver or DVR, and a subscription upgrade. It's not a do-it-yourself solution.

One possibility: cancel DirecTV and go with Dish Network. They have low-cost promotions that could get you HD and a DVR at no added cost.
