If i Jailbreaked an iPhone 4g, will its applications work ?

am willing to get a new iPhone 4g from America AT&T and unlock it here in my country, but some ppl told me that all its applications and options wont work if i jailbreaked it.
so would some one plz help and tell me if that is true or not, because if not i wont get the Phone
