...interest or an obsession? Right now, I enjoy reading books and watching documentaries about ancient history, and I like to memorize all the details.

Sounds like you need a new hobby or to at least find one particular thing you'd like to be an expert. After all, nobody likes a know-it-all ...

After all, wouldn't you find it a bit weird if somebody knew every little detail about everything you talked to them about?

I'd take it easy on the memorizing.

i think its just an interest.
i like to do that as well.. but thats rarely hahaha.
it amazes me that you have the motivation to want to learn all the time :)

but id say, look at it as a good thing, i would..

It's only an obsession when it gets in the way of other areas of your life such as your work/school, relationships with family and friends, etc.

Dear June, Ask yourself this question first: Is this activity affecting my other daily activities or bad for myself? Ask: Am I keeping all to myself and do not want to interact with other people?

If your answers are no, it sounds like a very mentally healthy interest. If yes, you know what to do. Keep it at a minimum if you are able only if you answer yes.
