What Event?
Meters or Miles? Oh well, I will give you sujjestions for both
Meters: As a workout, do an activity called the "Pyrimid" What you do is first, warm up as usual and do your stretch routine. THEN start with a 200, then do a 400, then do a 800, then go back down to a 400, then 200. If you are practicing in a specific meter range like a 200, do something like a 200, to 220, to 240, to 260, 280, 300, then back down.
Miles: Have different work outs everyday. You can have a distance day (Run 5+ miles) to keep your endurance up. You can have a Tempo day(Run around 2-3, fast paced miles) to practice keeping pace. And you can have meter days, and practice what i described above to have good starts and finishes.
