If marijuana were completely legal, would it be as cheap as tobacco?

From what I've heard tobacco isn't easy to grow, marijuana isn't easier. Why is it hat Mary Jane is so much more expensive, the illegality?

Cheap? Have you checked the price of cigarettes lately. I'm sure pot would go way down in price if it were suddenly made legal, of course the Gov. would fall all over itself slapping sky high taxes on it.

No it would come down from the black market price but by the time it was taxed six ways from Sunday I think it would be $ 25 -30 for a pack of 10 joints or about $140 per oz. But it should be priced as to leave plenty of room for the farmers to get a great profit off limited amounts grown so it won't be the only crop grown

No.

Marijuana is less addictive than tobacco, so it would be hard to generate as much demand for it as there is demand for tobacco.

Market demand an supply. Simple. Mary Jane is hard to acquire now. Tobacco is legal.Cost 65 cents to create one pack of 20. The rest is all tax. If, hemp and mary jane were legal? Farm expansion and ease of purchase would drive down cost. Unless government choose to tax it to where it stays ay current prices?
