If proof of aliens / extraterrestrials of high intelligence was found, would it

be the fatal blow to religion? Or would religion go on? How would it effect our world, society, culture, etc? Do you think there would be panic by a lot of people?

Some scientists believe that we could make contact with another life form sometime after 2020, which will some think is enough time for any nearby life forms to get any messages we've sent and respond back. We may have already been contacted as well, if you consider the possibility that the "WOW!" signal was indeed an artificial noise.

It would be a blow to religion... somewhat. If all aliens from another planet have never heard of say Christianity (a big one) for example, then it means Jesus is not THEIR savior and therefore not part of the universe, BUT it does not disprove that a/some god(s) created the universe. It's hard to say what will happen because we haven't come very close to discovering alien philosophy/religion.

No... Not at all. Just because it's not explained in detail to us.. doesn't mean there aren't other lifeforms out there. In what way would that be a fatal blow to religion? Because we aren't informed doesn't mean it's not possible. Just because it's not in the Bible doesn't mean God didn't do other things before or after he made us. I don't believe God would be like. "UPDATE!" "OMG just letting you know... I like totally just created another planet.. with totally different lifeforms... just to let you know"

It would make no difference whatsoever. Why would it? The history of God's interaction with His people on this planet is what it is. Nothing would change if He also has a history with some of His creatures on other planets.

Depends what the aliens have to say.

The Bible does not specifically preclude extra-terrestrial life, but I imagine mass hysteria if any show up here.

Oh no...religion would definitely continue. There may be a few nutwings like Pat Robertson who might have a conniption about it, but this wouldn't put an end to religion at all.

Aliens do exist, and yes it would be the downfall to religion, or they would say "the imaginary man created them too!"

A lot of people would panic, but it's stupid to think that no other life out there other than exists.
