If the internet were around during the great depression do you think?

that it would have been worse.

We are in the middle of a terrible recession right now but nothing compared to what happened in the thirties. The internet is used to push agendas and ideas as much as any other media out there. Now people are going around reading things they don't understand from unsubstantiated sources, and they are ready to freak out.

If during the great depression there was something like the internet that could allow people to get their "ideas" out would have created more of a mass hystreria like we are looking at right now.
sorry i meant to ask about people state of mind. Not necessarily the depression itself. I apologize i can see where i wasn't clear. But i meant with the internet it is very easy to get a message out no matter whether it is true or not. I was just wondering whether or not people think that there would be more mass hysteria or not.

The great depression was caused by a drought in our bread basket...if we could have drought food from other places than it would have been fine but if it stayed the way it was and just had the internet and did nothing with it than we would have still had a depression

Probably not. However, Roosevelt certainly would not have been able to have his "fireside chats" that were so popular on the radio. Fireside IM, or chatroom just doesn't have the same ring to it.
