If you are already Jewish by race is there no need for conversion into Judaism?

I am Jewish by race, but I wasn't raised into Judaism. I was raised Christian. I want to celebrate my Jewish identity and follow Judaism.

I really don't want to hear comments like "You should follow Jesus!" I have chosen my path. Please don't push your religion on me.

Thank you (:

Look for a messianic synagogue in your city.Messianic Jews accept Jesus as the Messiah but worship using Old Testament teachings.

As Green Exclamation Point said, if your mother is/was Jewish, then you are Jewish. However, if you are Jewish from your father's side only, then you'd have to convert to be considered Jewish by religion. Good luck with everything and welcome :)

What exactly do you mean by "Jewish by race"? There is no such thing as a Jewish race. Do you mean your mother was raised Jewish?

It depends on the definition. The Orthodox end of the spectrum holds a more "biological" view, while the Reform end holds a more "upbringing/identity" view.

So, by Orthodox & Conservative standards, if your mother was a Jew (i.e. her mother was a Jew, meaning her mother was a Jew, etc.), then you are Jewish.

By Reform standards, you are not Jewish, since you weren't raised Jewishly. You'd need to convert in order to be considered Jewish.

So it depends on what exactly you mean when you say you are Jewish by race, and by which stream's definition you're adhering to.
