If you block someone on Skype does it delete them from your contacts?

I can't seem to find a straightforward answer. When I click "block" for a person, it says I'll delete them from my contact list, but I've also seen it listed on the net that it says any contact you've authorized once unblocked will automatically still be an authorized contact because both computers save such data. So is there a way to temporarily block someone?- or block and unblock someone (from both seeing me online and contacting me) more than once without them knowing?

Also, I know you can go "invisible", but you can still contact and be contacted at that time - can you go invisible to just certain contacts? You see what I'm getting at. Thanks.
