If you change your Verizon data plan does it take effect immediately?

Ive went over my limit on my data plan but if I change it, I will be able to save money and keep it down. If I change my data plan will it charge me twice? or can I change it now and it will take effect even with the data Ive used?

You can choose whether to have it take effect at the NEXT billing period, or it can go "retroactive" for this period. If you can't do this online, call 611 and do it over the phone.
