religion you were raised with? I decided to ask this in parenting and pregnancy as there's a wider variety of people here than in the religious or philosophy sections.
In my culture (Protestant area of Belfast, Northern Ireland) there seems to be a lot of kids sent to sunday school and girls/boys brigade (religious organisations for children) by parents who don't believe in or practice christianity. The kind of people who hold christenings for their children when they couldn't care less about going near a church or thinking about God the other 364 days in a year.
How do you deal with religion and things like christmas/ easter/ christenings when it comes to your children?
In Northern Ireland religion is a big deal, with lots of people using the words catholic and protestant, when they don't believe in God, Catholics versus protestants still causes so much trouble and upheaval (yes it has developed into political, social etc issues)
but what do you think of it all? once it is found out someone from a protestant community has a child that has been attending a catholic church or orginisations, someone somewhere will have a comment to make, although i'm sure in other places no one would bat an eye
