If you stop smoking now, how long will it take for body to clear out the tar?!?

Ive been smoking regulary 3 years now i think i should really stop now. Iam just wondering will the lungs ever become fully healthy again when i stop smoking? How long will it take for all the tar to leave your lungs? Thanks
