you an "alarmist" or a realist? Let's be good conservatives and not draw any parallels between the 45 million American smokers and at least that number who deny man-made global warming. How can anyone be doing something harmful unless they drop dead before your eyes?

Smokers can't possibly alter their own lungs and hearts with the worst effects happening in old age, nor can cars and factories alter the heat-retention of the atmosphere with the worst effects happening decades from now. It just can't be so because it might cause worry, and life is all about having fun right now.
Key-phrase: "global warming alarmists" (they worry too much - give them a beer)

You are being neither alarmist nor realist - pompous perhaps, pretentious maybe, hypocritical possibly, but definitely not alarmist or realist.

Do you really believe cigarette smokers need to be told that smoking could kill them in the future? Is this something they don't already know? If they choose to disbelieve expert medical opinion, why should they pay any attention to the comments or opinions of their peers?
 
Alarmist. I could say you could die tomorrow from a sewer leak seeping hazardous gases into your home while you're sleeping. Does that mean you need to know that? Would I be inciting some paranoia?
My friend's mother tried quitting smoking for 10 years, spending a fortune medications, counselors and even a quit smoking boot camp. She died in a car accident on her way to a quit smoking class. You can die from anything at any time.
 
well my uncle got arterial neurysm due to heavy smoking for 20 years almost 5/day *7300days=36500 ciggerates how much spend on this almost 4000$ min as i know to purchase ciggerates and nearly 10000$ only on surgery + daily med and doc fees extra with no guaranty will he live to next day or not even he seems fit
they also seem environment hazard fuel burn to run ciggerate industries and than on health industries related to it better use other non tobacco ciggerates
 
You still drive your car, even thouth you believe it, did cause or may be the cause of Hurricane Katrina?

What would happen if all but the 45 million american deniers boycotted the oil and gas industry? It might not be fun but most revolutions aren't fun and there can be no greater cause than saving the planet, so get to it.
 
When anti tobacco researchers are competing with each other for funding, then scientific accuracy has to take a lower priority.

It doesn't matter if statistics show that smoking takes 4-5 years off life expectancy, because if some researcher gets a grant to show that smoking takes 11 years off your life, the next researchers have to aim for 12.

If you through enough money at the research, they will tell you smoking takes 100 years off your life, by which time they would have obviously crossed the line into alarmism.

Prove to me you care about AGW. Go live in a cave. Hunt with a spear and gather your nuts, roots, and berries. Spin wool from your own sheep for clothing. Walk everywhere.
