The Cask of Amontillado.
The Tell Tale Heart.
The Spectacles.
The Goldbug.
The Man of the Crowd.

Of course, make sure your friend reads The Raven.

i would recommend "The Raven" because it's one of his darkest works. the topic of death attracts me deeply.
