If your a pilot, wouldnt you call out your sattelite position before going down ?

So air traffic control can notify Police, Fire to find you when you go down, I know if I were a pilot, I would.
This is regarding the plane that just went down last night in Buffalo NY
About 300 miles north from where I am. This was not done in this case after hearing the communication between air traffic and the pilot.

I think I'd be calling out to something other than ATC in this case...to GOD maybe?
