im 18 and shy, how do i chat up girls?

hi, im 18 and im on the very shy side. when i go out with my friends if they see a random girl on the street or whatever they go up to her and start talking and usually get her number etc. now im not the worst looking guy in the world but im too shy to do this. what do i say? how do i act? thanks
